Barbara is a licensed acupuncturist who received her Master’s degree from Tai Sophia Institute in Laurel, Maryland. Currently Barbara practices acupuncture at Kernan Hospital at the outpatient clinic for the University of Maryland Center for Integrative Medicine. She is also a research coordinator for the Center for Integrative Medicine teaching meditation to research participants who are dealing with substance abuse issues.
Barbara is also certified in animal acupuncture and provides house calls for clients in Baltimore City and Baltimore County. She completed Reiki training (Level I, Level II) and advanced through the Healing Pathways program taught by Bonnie Tarantino at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Previous to her work with people and animals using acupuncture and Reiki, Barbara was a clinical social worker. She has had a variety of clinical experiences over the course of her social work career including children and family therapist, school social worker, clinical team leader for Cigna Behavioral health, and a private practice. In addition, Barbara served in the United States Navy for 7 years as a hospital corpsman where she began her medical career and learning that helping others is about being a good listener, offering compassion, and being a team player.
In her spare time Barbara spends time with her dog Shanti, traveling, hiking, and enjoying her life with family and friends.
