Dr. Delia Chiaramonte, a Board Certified family physician, graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Colorado State University with a degree in French Literature.  She earned her medical degree from The Medical College of Pennsylvania (Drexel University) and completed a family medicine residency and Faculty Development fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.  During her residency she taught mind-body techniques to her fellow residents, and during fellowship she wrote and published a paper entitled "Mind-Body Therapies for Primary Care Physicians."  Throughout her career Dr. Chiaramonte has viewed the mind and the body as intricately connected.

Dr. Chiaramonte has experience in the clinical, administrative and academic domains of medicine.  She has served as Medical Director of a rural family practice clinic, as chairperson of a family practice department, and as a teaching attending in a community residency program, where she earned two awards for teaching excellence.  Even while practicing in conventional settings, Dr. Chiaramonte has helped her patients, when appropriate, to integrate alternative therapies into their treatment regimens. 

Dr. Chiaramonte specializes in the integration of conventional medicine with alternative therapies and has particular interest in the care of cancer patients.  She sees patients with all stages of cancer, from just after diagnosis to advanced metastatic disease.  She has expertise in Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine, nutrition, guided imagery and cognitive behavioral therapy.  She has published articles in both the medical and lay literature and is a sought after speaker on the topics of coping with cancer, healthcare navigation, and doctor-patient communication.  In addition, Dr. Chiaramonte has been quoted as an expert on patient advocacy by well-respected news organizations such as The Wall Street Journal, CNN, and USA Today.  She is responsible for many aspects of the Center for Integrative Medicine's education program for medical students and sees patients in the Center's clinic.
