The following databases are available via the World Wide Web. Most of these databases are accessible without a fee, unless otherwise noted. ConsumerLab.com
Independent testing laboratory that evaluates consumer products including
herbs, vitamins, minerals, and dietary supplements. Please note there is a $24
per year subscription fee for full access.
Facts and Comparisons
Natural product summaries as well as information on effectiveness, adverse
reactions, and possible interactions. Users can also access "The Review of
Natural Products," a section designed to help users locate detailed information
on the history, chemistry, pharmacology, medicinal uses, and toxicology of
products, as well as patient information. (

Bibliographic Information on Dietary Supplements (IBIDS)
Access to scientific literature on vitamins, minerals and herbs.

Natural Medicine Comprehensive
Database
This database contains over 1,000 evidence-based monographs on natural
medicines. Within the database you can find information on natural product
uses, safety, effectiveness, pharmacological actions, adverse reactions,
possible interactions, and much more. The database also lets you search topics
such as obesity, depression, and influenza to see which natural products are
being used as treatments. (

Natural
Standard
Natural Standard provides up-to-date, evidence-based information on herbs and
supplements, conditions, alternative medicine modalities, and patient
information. Subscription information for their free e-Newsletter is available
from their home page. Please note: There is a $99 per year subscription fee for
full access to their database.
PubMed (CAM
subset)
There is a subset of the Medline database which provides access to CAM
citations. (Follow the link and choose LIMITS, then select the Complementary
Medicine subset). Citations related to herbs and dietary supplements are not
included in this subset and can be searched from the PubMed homepage.
