Qigong Therapy for Treating Cocaine Addiction

An exciting investigational research study offering new approaches in helping with cocaine withdrawal is being conducted by the University of Maryland School of Medicine.   Non-drug therapies (acupressure, deep breathing and meditation) will be combined with a standard detoxification program to hopefully increase the success rate of people who have made the commitment to stop using cocaine.

Qualified participants are:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Have used cocaine/crack in the past 30 days but want to stop
  • Not in a methadone maintenance program
  • Willing to accept treatment for their cocaine problem and to follow the treatment protocol (e.g. provide urine samples; come for all visits and follow-ups).
  • Able to travel to Harambee Clinic (3939 Reisterstown Rd.) to get the treatment and fill out study forms.

If interested, please call University of Maryland Harambee Clinic (410-542-2145) and ask for Ms. Ginnea Morrison-Carver to see if you are eligible.  You may also contact Dr. Chen at 410-448-6876 if you have any question about this study.

For qualified participants, the treatment will be free of charge, and you will get paid for your time to participate in the study.
